FERPA is a federal law designed to protect the privacy of student education records.

This tutorial is designed to educate UMD faculty, staff, and students on the basics of FERPA and on how best to protect student information and comply with FERPA.

This tutorial takes approximately ten minutes to complete.

This tutorial must be completed prior to being granted access to UMD’s student systems.  If you are completing this tutorial to gain access to UMD's student systems, you must receive a passing grade on the quiz and also complete the Account Request Form.
